The whole game feels like a missed opportunity.Night School Studio's OXENFREE is a supernatural teen thriller about a group of friends who unwittingly open a ghostly rift. The disappointing thing is, there seems to be numerous situations where the devs could have added way more story, character backgrounds and generally expanded the narative, but they simply didn't bother. There are also no new game mechanics, so Oxenfree 2 essentially plays exactly the same as the first game and afterparty. Traversal is also rather tedious with a lot of needless backtracking, plus there are a lot of areas in the map that are just empty spaces that you can climb to for no reason. The two main characters are just quite irritating, the story itself is a bit of a let down and doesn't really go anywhere, or at least it does not explore half as much as it could have, particularly in regards to the secondary characters.
